Mathematics in the COVID-19 Fight : News from the "Mathematical Modelling of COVID-19 Task Force" [ Français ]

This Task Force received $660,000 in funding over two years from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR). The funding application was led by the Fields Institute in partnership with the CRM, the PIMS CRM, the PIMS and AARMS. The Task Force's role is to conduct "simulations to understand and predict the global spread, rates and routes of importation of cases into Canada". In addition, the team also wants to "refine pandemic control tools". According to Jacques Bélair, we are to "suggest realistic scenarios in terms of prevention, but also treatment" by studying the different responses of countries to the pandemic, and by analyzing the characteristics of the spread according to the methods deployed to obstruct it.
